Merry Christmas, and Happy fourth night of Hanukkah! I'm thinking of friends and family tonight in Paris, and wishing you all the very best of holidays.

And today I have learned an important lesson, one I think is worth sharing: Never book a 4-hour layover in the Mannheim train station on Christmas Eve.
